Lake Elsinore, CA — Authorities confirmed that they arrested two suspects related to the fatal hit-and-run accident which killed Josh Nichols, a 44-year-old beloved father from Southern California.
Incident Details
The Riverside County Sheriff’s Office reported that Nichols went home with his dog on Feb. 18 close to 1 a.m. when he encountered a dark-colored vehicle near Riverside Drive and Baker Street in Lake Elsinore.
When deputies reached the scene they found Nichols face down on the roadway and immediately declared him dead. Before authorities reached the location the driver escaped and abandoned vehicle pieces as evidence.
The public helped investigators locate the suspect vehicle and trace it to a residence in Lake Elsinore.

Suspects Arrested
During a traffic stop on Feb. 20 deputies apprehended Brody Aaron Bird who was 20 at the time. Authorities arrested Amber Lauren Lievanos, 20 years old, immediately following Bird’s detention.
Lievanos received a vehicular manslaughter booking after interviews and Bird faced accessory after the fact charges. The authorities placed both suspects into the Cois Byrd Detention Center.
Ongoing Investigation & Family’s Plea
The investigation continues as researchers work to establish the precise details of the crash. Nichols’ family believes he might have been hit while looking for his lost dog Woodson who remains missing.
“Josh was a kind, loving person who always helped others. We are heartbroken over his loss,” said a family member.
The Nichols family has received financial support through a GoFundMe campaign to cover funeral expenses.
