Anaheim, CA — Authorities confirmed that a 29-year-old woman from Buena Park faces DUI charges after a fatal accident killed a driver in Anaheim on Sunday night.
Crash Details
The Anaheim Police Department (APD) reported that the accident happened at about 10 p.m. near Magnolia Avenue and West Broadway intersection. A red crossover SUV collided with a white Volkswagen sedan.
Firefighters needed to use heavy rescue equipment to remove the critically injured 56-year-old Long Beach woman from her SUV after the collision. Emergency transport to a nearby hospital followed by a declaration of death occurred approximately one hour after arrival. The officials have not disclosed her identity yet.
Samantha Farris who drove the Volkswagen received hospital treatment for the injuries she suffered during the crash.

Suspected DUI Investigation
The investigation concluded that Farris made a left turn directly in front of the SUV which caused the fatal accident. The APD initiated a DUI investigation after witnesses at the scene testified they saw Farris drinking at a local establishment before the crash.
“There was probable cause to believe that Ms. Farris had been operating a motor vehicle in an unsafe manner while intoxicated,” the Anaheim Police Department stated in a press release.
After receiving medical clearance, Farris was booked into jail on charges of DUI and gross vehicular manslaughter. She was later released on bail Monday morning.
