President Masoud Pezeshkian reacted to President Trump’s announcement to halt Iran’s oil exports entirely.
Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian rebutted U.S. President Donald Trump‘s proposal to cut Iran’s oil exports to zero by stating that Iran has multiple methods to address economic challenges beyond oil revenues.
During the nationwide launch of energy projects Pezeshkian reassured citizens about the existence of alternative economic solutions which will prevent Iran’s economy from collapsing under sanctions.
Iran’s Energy Strategy and Sustainable Development
At the event, President Pezeshkian stressed on the need to focus on energy conservation and upgrade:
Increase reliance on solar energy to decrease the use of fossil fuels:
Deployment of solar panels on rooftops, government buildings, and even on the reservoirs behind the dams to enhance the production of renewable energy.
Reduction of excessive fuel consumption by encouraging the public and firms to conserve energy through the use of policies.
He had a problem with the electricity and gas consumption and said that energy wastage should be punished and those who save should be rewarded.
A Self-Sufficient Future Without Oil Dependence
Pezeshkian noted that if Iran manages its energy resources well, sells the surplus oil and gas to the international market and fostices its trade relations with its neighbors, it will be able to weather any economic storm brought about by outside forces.
In response, Pezeshkian said, “The U.S. thinks our entire economy relies on oil, but we have so many other ways to support our people and the economy.”
He also told Iranians that they should cut the use of gas by two degrees, and that this has led to a daily consumption of 20 million cubic meters of gas less.

Long-Term Water Resource Management
Some of the measures recommended included:
🌊 Setting up very large desalination plants by the Persian Gulf to acquire 2 billion cubic meters of fresh water every year.
💧 Applying wise and efficient use of water for non-drinking uses such as cleaning and sanitation.
🔍 A 50 to 100 year vision for water management, so that future generations do not have to rely on empty groundwater reserves.
A Strong Response to U.S. Sanctions
President Pezeshkian restated that Iran is invincible to the sanctions, saying that:
“The U.S. believes they can cripple us by blocking oil exports, but we have 15 neighboring countries and an extensive trade network that allows us to overcome these challenges.”
He emphasized the importance of regional cooperation with Muslim nations and expressed confidence that, with strategic planning and the support of the Supreme Leader, Iran will overcome its economic difficulties by next year.
Conclusion
Iran is actively diversifying its economy, reducing dependency on oil, and improving sustainable energy and water management. Pezeshkian’s remarks reaffirm Iran’s determination to withstand external pressure and achieve self-sufficiency despite sanctions.
